The Grade 2 Flower Bowl Stakes (10.09) at Saratoga has been won by some fantastic fillies and mares over the years including Kazzia, Riskaverse, Lady Eli and more recently War Like Goddess, who looks to win the race for a second time and should take all of the beating over this trip on the turf.

This five-year-old daughter of English Channel is all class. She has won eight of her ten lifetime starts, six of which have been in Graded company, and she’s also won at the top level having taken this last year when it was classed as Grade 1.

She is unbeaten in three starts at the course and comes into this in flying form. Her two wins this season have both been from off a slow pace and she showed her trademark devastating turn of foot to win both of them.

Her trainer William Mott has been singing her praises in recent interviews and she should win this well under Joel Rosario over an ideal distance at a track she loves.

A field of nine older horses are set to go to post for the tenth race at Kentucky Downs, which is the Mint Million Stakes over a mile on the turf. Atone has been running consistently well in graded races this season and has more than enough ability to win this.

The Michael Maker-trained gelding has rattled up form figures of 44323 since January, with the first four of those being in stakes events, and it is only a matter of time before he gets his head in front and this looks like a good opportunity to do that.

He has the wide draw to contend with but given his run style that is a positive. He’s a late closer who thrives when having something to aim at and he should get that here with plenty of early pace on.

Recent workouts have been impressive and he comes into this with every chance.
