US expert Tom Collins thinks ten-race maiden can break duck at Will Rogers Downs

Tiago's Song
7.15 Will Rogers Downs
2pts win

Tulle
11.15 Will Rogers Downs
2pts win

The opening $8,250 maiden claimer (7.15) at Will Rogers Downs should provide the perfect opportunity for Tiago's Song to get off the mark at the 11th attempt.

Donald Komardley's mare didn't trouble the judge on her first few outings but improved once she was sent to Remington Park and marked herself as a surefire future winner with some encouraging efforts just before Christmas.

She is fast from the gates and is often in the firing line, but she only has the one gear and has been regularly found out in the stretch as stronger stayers steam by her.

Tiago's Song had a three-month layoff before making her debut at Will Rogers Downs in March, but despite that she was heavily punted into 4-5 favouritism and showed blistering early speed to lead in the first two furlongs.

She was overhauled entering the straight by a rank outsider and the reopposing Proud Mari, but her fitness clearly played a part in that defeat and she can reverse the form with the runner-up after that prep run.

There do not appear to be too many rivals who can trouble Tiago's Song in the early stages and that should allow rider Curtis Kimes to save a bit of energy and dominate from the outset to reward favourite backers.

The only other bet on the card comes in the feature $20,900 allowance (11.15), where some useful fillies and mares are set to go head-to-head.

A few of the runners hold sound claims but Tulle has experience and a good draw in gate two, which will hopefully give her an advantage over her chief rivals, all of whom are drawn wider than ideal.

Set to be partnered by talented young rider Lane Luzzi, Tulle, a three-time winner from nine starts, is likely to have the perfect rail sit in behind dueling leaders and can come through powerfully in the latter stages to get on top at the wire.

She enters this race on a hat-trick bid following claiming victories at Sam Houston Park in January and February and she holds the reopposing and in-form Erebuni on the latest win.

They took each other on through the early stages of that race but Tulle was far stronger coming home and the fact she can race in behind the pace here should see the winning margin over that rival increase.

Anna Meah's Vallestina is the biggest danger on her first start at Will Rogers Downs after winning a claimer at Santa Anita, but her draw in stall 11 is extremely off-putting.
