US expert Tom Collins thinks inside draws will help unlucky last-time-out losers

Dak Da Man
8.15 Will Rogers Downs
1pt win

Box Seat
10.45 Will Rogers Downs
2pts win

Keanna
11.45 Will Rogers Downs
2pts win

It is fair to say my knowledge of the form at Will Rogers Downs was average until racing in Britain was suspended and we were all put into lockdown.

However, after a few weeks of dedicating my Sunday and Monday afternoons to watching replays and analysing past races at the course, I now feel I have a good internal database of the runners at the Oklahoma track.

Back on March 24, I tipped the Kenneth Nolan-trained Sedaris to win an allowance race at Will Rogers. He got the dream trip but found one too good on the day and annoyingly finished second.

Three rivals that finished in behind Sedaris that day reoppose in the $26,400 allowance (8.15) on Tuesday's card and I'm hopeful Dak Da Man, who is drawn widest of all in gate seven, will reverse the form.

Kari Craddock's four-year-old stays this mile trip well but was unfavoured by the way the race panned out last time and was under pressure early on as the field quickened up at the halfway stage.

However, he got his second wind midway down the stretch and was only beaten two lengths at the wire (half a length behind Sedaris and a head behind Big Game Hunter).

He will drop to the rear under Leandro Goncalves once again here but a stronger gallop is expected and therefore Dak Da Man's strength may come to the fore in the final furlong. I expect him to get on top late.

The biggest danger is probably Morhawk, who makes his debut at Will Rogers after three similar placed efforts at Sam Houston Park. However, his career record of 1-20 is poor and it would take a brave punter to back him to produce the goods.

Another horse that caught the eye at the end of March was Box Seat, who was sent off at 8-13 to break his duck at the sixth attempt on his first outing at Will Rogers.

Boyd Caster's gelding was badly bumped at the start from his wide draw in gate six of six and was forced to go five-wide down the back straight and into the first turn.

Rider Ken Tohill kept him wide throughout and he gave away numerous lengths to the leaders, but Box Seat found his stride once they turned for home and he finished powerfully to be beaten a length and a quarter.

The third home that day was Whiskey Factor, who had an inside trip and no excuses, so it's virtually impossible to see him turning round the form on this occasion.

Box Seat has been given the inside draw this time in the $19,800 maiden special weight (10.45) and should get a lovely run on the rail, before pouncing late to finally get off the mark.

Similar hopes apply to the final selection, Keanna, who has also drawn the inside stall in the closing $9,900 claimer (11.45).

I tipped Donald Trett's filly two weeks ago when she was forced wide from a bad draw on a sloppy track following overnight rain.

Keanna made a big move entering the turn as rider Gustavo Herrera clearly did not want to be posted deep, and she briefly looked like challenging runaway leader Nurse List before her surge took its toll in the straight.

Her effort flattened out in the final half-furlong that day but she is dropped back to 5½f now and won't have anywhere near as tough a trip from the inside post.

Nurse List reopposes and should make sure there is a decent pace in the early stages, and Keanna's tactical speed can put her in prime position as they turn for home. She can add a second victory to her tally.
