The ground was riding quick for the first two days at Chester last week, but on the final day it had eased to good following overnight rain and was loose on top according to the jockeys.

This daughter of Poet’s Voice looked in rude health, but being positioned in stall nine was always going to be a disadvantage. She found herself in midfield and started to make headway coming around the final bend, but even though she was closing she could never make a serious challenge. This was a fair effort overall and she will be winning again.

The leggy Yogi’s Girl was drawn in stall three, which enabled her to make all the running. However, I was not taken by her appearance and she will find things much tougher if going to York on Friday.
