Unbeaten Mutanaaseq looks ideal type for Woodcote
James Pyman with his ones to watch from the past week
Gilgamesh
Trainer: George Scott
Won, Redcar, May 4
This three-year-old won with a lot more in hand than the official margin suggests – he was the only horse in the first six home who came from off the pace. He travelled well throughout and finished strongly to pip the unexposed Tai Sing Yeh. Gilgamesh will stay a mile and looks capable of more than holding his own in a higher grade.

Central Square
Roger Varian
3rd, Newmarket, May 6
Produced his best form around 1m2f last season and found this 1m1f trip too sharp on his return. In a slowly run contest, he was held up in rear and when the tempo lifted 3f out he had to be ridden to remain in touch. He lacked the speed to go with the winner and second in the third-last and second-last furlongs, but was gaining ground at the finish and is likely to be a lot more effective over a longer distance.

Mutarakez
Brian Meehan
8th, Thirsk, May 6
Although on a losing run of eight, the 2015 Silver Bowl Handicap winner has slipped to an attractive mark. For the second start in a row he met trouble in running at a crucial stage and with a clear passage would have achieved a better finishing position in this competitive mile handicap. He was buried in the pack for much of the home straight and it was only really inside the last half-furlong that he found daylight.
