Towcester's stiff finish burns favourite backers

Credit: Edward Whitaker

>>With three flights left to jump, it looked like favourite backers at Towcester would get off on the front foot as Tinted Rose took up the running in the mares' maiden hurdle. However Charlie Longsdon's runner, who went as low as 1.19 in-running, had no answer to the finishing kick from Sister Sibyl, who touched 10 before running out a comfortable winner.

>>Shark Hanlon has been doing well with his Irish raiders of late, but it did not look like Adarenna was going to add to the tally in the 2m chase at Towcester. Distant Rain had gone clear around the home turn and was traded at 1.16, but Richie McLernon's persistence on Adarenna paid off as she gathered up the tiring leader and rewarded those who took the 100 on offer in-running.

>>Those who fancied Wounded Warrior to stretch Champagne Fever's stamina in the Listed chase at Thurles knew their fate before the home straight, despite Noel Meade's runner hitting a low of 1.8. That left three chances going to the last, but former Gold Cup winner Lord Windermere (2.06) and Roi Des Francs (2.9) could got get past Champagne Fever and Ruby Walsh, with the winner peaking at a high of 7.
