One hell of a beating - but it's still too early to discount Classic generation

Oh dear me, the three-year-olds took a hell of a beating in the King George but, before everyone starts writing them off it, was only a few weeks ago that Vadeni landed the Eclipse, while at Pontefract on Sunday Alflaila beat the older horses in the Pomfret Stakes with ease.

Clearly, Westover and Emily Upjohn didn’t perform anywhere near their best in the King George and one of the consequences of their poor performances was to open up the St Leger.

Before Saturday that pair dominated the market for the final Classic of the season, but after it they really can’t be on my mind as possible winners. Emily Upjohn didn't seem to stay a mile and a half and surely won’t be going to Doncaster, while Westover was far too keen and I can’t believe he still heads the St Leger betting after that moderate display.
