After Pied Piper's runaway success at Cheltenham and Vauban's impressive performance at Leopardstown on Saturday, I thought the prospect of a British-trained winner of the JCB Triumph Hurdle was negligible.

The chances are still pretty slim but after watching Doctor Parnassus hacking up at Taunton on Tuesday I do think there is more than a glimmer of hope for the home team.
