Tom Segal: no reason why Chatham Street Lad won’t prove himself at top level

A few years ago I was a half-cup-empty kind of bloke. My first thought about a race would be to veer towards what went wrong rather than focusing on the positives, but it gets exhausting always being miserable so I’ve made a conscious effort to change my way of thinking.

After watching the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup on Saturday I felt myself veering back towards the negative because it felt like what I was seeing was too good to be true.

It seems like I wasn’t alone because I keep hearing words like fluke and unrepeatable being bandied around about the performance of Chatham Street Lad, but why should that be the case?
