Townshend is back down to his last winning mark and he shaped as though he was running back into form in a better race at Ascot last time.

At Ascot, Townshend travelled well and made good ground to be upsides the leaders on the turn for home. He was left behind from the second-last but kept on trying all the way to the line and that should have put him spot on for the Corrie Cup Handicap Chase at Ludlow (2.05).
