Tom Collins selects trio of juveniles in tricky Newbury opener for his Placepot

Aside from the 16-runner maiden hurdle, small fields are the order of the day at Newbury and the first and last legs of the perm look the trickiest to navigate.

Jumps form is thin on the ground in the opening juvenile hurdle (12.10) with seven of the 11 declared runners making their debuts in the sphere.

Overpriced Mixer will be favourite but he has looked errant in two starts and clearly comes with risks attached. I'll take him on with stablemate Goodbye Stranger, the experienced Iron Heart and promising Flat recruit Leylak.

The aforementioned big-field maiden hurdle (12.40) looks a banker race. Restandbethankful's form is good enough to think a place is eminently achievable.

Big Jackpot on offer at Kempton

Magic Of Light will seek her third consecutive victory in the Listed mares' chase (1.45), a race she has won by 99 and 14 lengths in the last two years. She comes out miles clear on ratings and should rack up the hat-trick.

The third banker on the card is The Bomber Liston in the 2m4f novice hurdle (2.20). Highly regarded by Nicky Henderson, the four-year-old got going late in both his bumper starts and will relish the extra distance.

Topweight Sao, who finally fulfilled some early promise when last seen, and the well-handicapped Doitforthevillage complete the perm in the closing handicap chase (2.55).
