Tom Collins has a banker for the final leg in his Yarmouth Placepot
With the six Placepot races at Yarmouth comprising five double-figure fields and a trappy seven-runner novice event, hopes are high that it may return a useful figure and that we can plunder the prize with a simplistic but safe approach.
The opening 1m2f maiden (12.00) provides a good starting point for the perm with three runners standing out in the 11-runner contest. I will take Frankel filly Tanita to continue the good form of trainer Sir Michael Stoute.
The following maiden handicap (12.35), which is run over the same trip, is a tougher race to assess with a number of lightly raced individuals tackling some more exposed rivals. Including John Gosden's Nasraawy is a must, while a first-time visor can help Slade King make the frame.
Godolphin's Fast Start, who finished down the field in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, will be fancied to get off the mark in the 7f novice event (1.10).
However, I prefer ownermate Barber Of Seville, who represents leading connections, and the unraced and precociously bred Boomshalaa. Hopefully we can get the likely market leader out of the frame.
With 16 maiden fillies set to go to post for the following 7f median auction (1.40), it is worth playing safe with a couple of selections. One Small Step and Performance Poet, both of whom made an encouraging debut, should be selected.
The feature 0-90 handicap (2.10) is arguably the toughest race to decipher. James Fanshawe's sharp sprinter Lady Eleanor, who won well at this track last time, and Micky Quinn's Recall The Show have a good chance of making the frame.
Simon and Ed Crisford's improver Aristocratic Lady is banker material in the final leg, a 0-80 handicap (2.40), given how impressive she was off a mark of 74 on her handicap debut last time. A 4lb rise isn't enough to stop her.
