Tom Collins analyses the credentials of four favourites in the US

Lindante
7.45 Will Rogers Downs
SP forecast 8-5

Fast gelding who is in a rich vein of form with three wins from his last six outings. Represents top connections and will attempt to make all again from a good post position in gate three. Worthy favourite but has had a busy time of things.

Conclusion Tough to beat but might have company on the front end and I narrowly prefer Deep Explorer at the prices.

Mr Big Shot
10.00 Fonner Park
SP forecast 2-1

Winner of a maiden special weight contest at this track in early April, Mr Big Shot was then pitched into stakes company here and ran very well to take second. Couldn't back that up last time when he faded late after being involved in a pace duel.

Conclusion Lay. Shouldn't be favourite based on his latest showing.

Spirit Of Caledon
10.15 Will Rogers Downs
SP forecast 8-5

Five-time winner who isn't the best to get into stride but stays a mile well. Drawn in gate two with a deep closer on his inside, so should get a rail sit, and holds a number of these on form. Reaching peak fitness on his third run back from a layoff.

Conclusion Should beat this field pretty comfortably.

Golden Bullet
11.21 Fonner Park
SP forecast 2-1

Son of Medaglia d'Oro out of a Street Cry mare, so very well-bred, but has only won three times from 22 starts. Those victories came in much better contests at Woodbine, Oaklawn Park and Remington Park early in his career. Recent outings over 6f have been encouraging now that he steps up to a mile.

Conclusion Takes a notable drop in grade and will go off shorter than 2-1.
