Tip-top Teetan can close title gap on Purton with Size runners set to pounce
Money Boy
8.40 Happy Valley
1pt win
Super Form
9.15 Happy Valley
1pt win
Gunnison
9.50 Happy Valley
2pts win
Karis Teetan is wasting no opportunity while champion Zac Purton is sitting on the sidelines under suspension. He has lined up a full book of ten rides at Happy Valley on Sunday and is expected to edge closer his great rival in the championship.
It is unusual to see a Sunday meeting at the Valley but there is no lack of quality because of it. Punters will have every chance of finding value on this interesting card.
I can see Teetan combining with trainer John Size for two winners at least in the second half of the programme.
Experienced Money Boy (8.40), winner of three of his 36 starts in Hong Kong, is clearly building up to another win, which could materialise in the Class 3 handicap over 5f.
He gave every indication of this at his last start when a solid second over course and distance for Teetan. Drawn nicely in stall two, he can greet the judge in some style this time.
The other Size-Teetan runner to follow is Gunnison (9.50), who will be extremely hard to beat in the Class 2 handicap over 6f.
Formerly trained in Australia by Peter and Paul Snowden, Gunnison was smart enough to land the Group 2 Todman Stakes in Sydney. He has been patiently handled by Size and is ready to make his mark.
His most recent outing resulted in a fourth over 5f, but the step up to six should see him in his element.
Another to note late in the day is the Tony Millard-trained Super Form (9.15), who can put behind him a disappointing last start by taking the Class 3 handicap over 1m½f for capable South African Grant Van Niekerk.
