The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Tuesday

BANKER

Dukhan (4.30 Pontefract)

Hugo Palmer has a decent 36 per cent strike-rate over the last two weeks (4-11) and can enhance his record with Dukhan, an improving gelding who goes best fresh. With form figures of 2121 after breaks of 50 days or longer, Dukhan was last seen winning well on rain-softened going at Newbury in October and although he is probably better on easier ground, he can resume his progress today. James Doyle, who has won on him, returns for the ride and his backform (beat Communique by a length before narrowly being defeated by Old Persian) clearly stands out.

GOOD THING

Ventura Ocean(3.30 Pontefract)

Richard Fahey has dominated this three-year-old handicap in recent seasons, winning four of the last five editions, and Ventura Ocean will surely go close for the trainer this time around. A one-time winner from six starts, Ventura Ocean kept good company during his juvenile campaign while his sole victory came over this course and distance. He's not drawn ideally in stall seven (lower draw the better) but he was considered a Gimcrack horse last year and the fact he is running off 88 with Sean Davis claiming a further 5lb suggests he could be very well treated.
