BANKER

Dostal Phil(4.30 Uttoxeter)

This ex-French-trained gelding has been in my tracker since he made his debut run for trainer Philip Hobbs at Bangor this time last year when finishing fourth despite being sent off at 4-5, and I'm hopeful of a better performance now he has had time to develop. He looked very inexperienced that day and didn't jump overly well, but stuck on encouragingly in the closing stages and the form of the contest looks pretty strong now. He's had a wind operation since that run and Hobbs won't have him fully tuned up with a long season ahead, but his class can help him through.

DARK HORSE

Coastguard Watch(6.00 Wolverhampton)

Richard Hughes has had a really solid season and he looks to have another good chance of adding an extra winner to the tally with Coastguard Watch at Wolverhampton. The son of Olympic Glory has more duck eggs next to his name than decent performances, but by far his career-best run came on his only start on the all-weather at Chelmsford and a performance like that will see him go close here off a mark of 63. He travels quite strongly through his races and the step up in trip should suit on his pedigree.
