BANKER

Stakeholder (2.40 Haydock)

A well-bred No Nay Never colt, Stakeholder was pretty short in the market for his debut run at Yarmouth a month ago and ran a really nice race to finish fourth. The first two home that day were previous winners, while the third, Barys, was quietly fancied from his strong yard and has since run well in the Convivial at York. With that experience on his side, trainer William Haggas will expect him to land this Haydock novice event, especially given he still holds entries in two end-of-season Group 1s.

GOOD THING

Poet's Vanity (4.50 Salisbury)

Andrew Balding's team remain in great form and Poet's Vanity, who won on this card two years ago, must have a huge chance of winning this fillies handicap. She won by ten lengths here in 2016 before landing the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes on her next start. However, she's winless in eight starts since which has seen her mark drop from 104 to 90. She ran a nice race in a conditions event in July – a repeat would be good enough to land this – and you can completely ignore her last run when she was restless in the stalls. She should be favourite.
