I have tipped Derek Shaw's six-year-old in this column the last two times he has run and although he failed to trouble the judge on both occasions, he had excuses and I'm hoping it will be third time lucky. He was beaten by the in-form Lion Hearted on both occasions in races that weren't run to suit (hampered at crucial stages on first run, slower pace over 7f not suitable last time) and has been dropped 2lb for those efforts. Back over his ideal trip of a mile from a good draw in stall one, Samphire Coast can come with a late run to regain the winning thread.
