The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Saturday

BANKER

Danse Idol(1.00 Haydock)

Showed ability when winning a point, before finishing a good second to subsequent Cheltenham Champion Bumper winner Relegate on rules debut in January. She switched stables after that and looked in need of the run and a longer trip when finishing sixth at Cheltenham on her reappearance. However, she looked so much better at Wincanton at the start of the month when upped to 2m5½f, making all at a good pace, before kicking away again to rout a fairly decent field. She looks pretty useful and can provide Bryony Frost with another big Saturday winner.

GOOD THING

Almost Gold(12.40 Ascot)

Ian Williams does well with his young handicap hurdlers and following four distant finishes at odds of 100, 200, 125 and 50-1, Almost Gold announced himself clearly capable of winning handicaps off marks in the low 100s with a good third-placed effort at Hereford in November. He was unsurprisingly sent off an odds-on favourite off the same mark of 108 last time out and fairly hacked up, suggesting his subsequent 3lb rise could be lenient. This is a marked step up in class and trip, but he's bred to stay and remains well treated.
