BANKER

Queen Moon (1.20 Southwell)

Andrew Balding has a 23 per cent strike-rate with his runners at Southwell (29-128) and his only runner on the card, Queen Moon, looks to have a great chance of enhancing his record. Unexposed with just six starts to her name, the daughter of Lawman proved she was capable of winning a low-grade handicap when third at this course last time out and, given the handicapper has dropped her a very generous 5lb for that effort, today could be her day.

EYECATCHER

Newberry New (1.30 Fakenham)

This five-year-old gelding makes his ninth start for Harriet Bethell since moving from Jessica Harrington's yard in Ireland and, after some disappointing displays, he is beginning to look exceptionally well treated off a mark of 108 over fences. Rated 15lb higher over hurdles, Newberry New competed in Graded races for his former trainer and it would be mindblowing if he couldn't win a race like this as long as his jumping holds up.
