DARK HORSE

Carlini(7.50 Windsor)

Drawn in stall 13 isn't ideal, but Brian Meehan's horses are running out of their skin so far this season and Carlini, who makes his handicap debut, should be noted. A mark of 65 looks like a stab in the dark given he was campaigned on a variety ground and tracks and he's likely to be well treated if ready to go first time out. He wasn't unfancied on debut when behind subsequent dual Listed winner Mildenberger, didn't handle the track at Beverley but ran much better on his third start in a good contest at Newbury. The step up to a mile looks perfect given his pedigree and what we saw last year.

EYECATCHER

Atletico(3.10 Pontefract)

A draw in stall nine and the return to turf may not be ideal for Atletico, but there are plenty of positives to think he has a huge chance for Roger Varian and Silvestre de Sousa. The six-year-old scored on good to soft ground, the same underfoot conditions he'll tackle here, at Windsor last summer and remains on a nice mark of 93 (10lb lower than he runs off on the all-weather). The race will need to fall right for him as he's often held up early, but the son of Kodiac is fit as a fiddle following a winter campaign and ran a career-best when last seen finishing behind Encore D'Or.
