The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Friday

BANKER

Rayong(2.20 Sandown)

Karl Burke's son of Mayson was one of the biggest eyecatchers in defeat at Royal Ascot. He was travelling strongly at halfway and probably would have gone very close given a clear run, but that wasn't the case as he almost got halted to a complete stop by a retreating rival when he started to make his challenge. Rayong's winning debut form is extremely strong (second, fourth and fifth won since) and the return to a quicker surface is in his favour. My slight doubt is that stall one will force him to either go forward, which is not his run style from what we've seen so far, or sit and suffer in behind and hope for a gap. Hopefully it comes.

GOOD THING

Whinmoor (3.35 Doncaster)

I'm a fan of Nigel Tinkler's Whinmoor and believe there is still plenty more improvement in this son of Havana Gold. He faces three rivals from more fashionable yards, but Whinmoor, who took time to come to himself, showed last year that he thrives on quick ground in the summer with a quickfire four-timer (twice over this trip) before going close over course and distance off a mark of 89. Following defeats in three better races this so far this season, he has dropped to 2lb below that mark and looks well treated to win this.
