The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Wednesday

GOOD THING

Rashdan (7.15 Kempton)

This London middle distance series qualifier is pretty competitive but if there is one time this season to back Rashdan it is today. Hugo Palmer's four-year-old won well after breaks of 227 and 61 days last season, both of which came on the all-weather, before struggling on the turf. He returns from a winter break here, so will likely be at his best based on his previous record fresh, and is 1lb lower than for his last victory. The booking of James Doyle, who rides this track so well, is key. Doyle is 24-80 (30 per cent strike-rate, +£29.86 to £1 level stakes) for Palmer on the all-weather.

EACH-WAY PLAY

Luath (5.25 Southwell)

I'm going to take a bit of a flyer on Suzzanne France's Luath in the closing mile handicap at Southwell in the hope that he can return to form after a two-month break. Extremely well-treated on the best of his form, this course specialist won here two years ago off a 9lb higher mark and although he is winless since, Luath has put in numerous good displays to finish in the top four ten times. He has dropped to an attractive mark of 48 and providing the wide draw doesn't hold him back, he can go close at a big price.

IRISH ANGLE

(6.00 Leopardstown)

A wide draw is the main concern with this selection as well, as I Am Superman has drawn stall 17 of 18 in the three-year-old 7f handicap. However, Michael O'Callaghan's runner could be chucked in off a mark of 79 and I couldn't resist putting him up at the forecast price of 8-1. Second on debut in a good Curragh maiden (third, fifth and sixth won since), I Am Superman bumped into useful sorts Norway and Rakan on his subsequents starts over a mile and hinted that a drop back in trip would be preferable. He gets that today and looks sure to go close on his first handicap start.
