The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Wednesday
BANKER
Timespan (7.55 Wolverhampton)
Well-bred Khalid Abdullah-owned filly who ran well on her first two starts in novice company, recording form figures of 32, including bumping into a 90+ rated runner on her second start. Was expected to be the bridesmaid again over 1m½f here at the end of last month but, having dictated a steady early pace, she readily fended off her 2-13 opponent who boasted good form. That was no fluke and she's likely to be much better than her opening mark of 79.
IRISH ANGLE
Days Without End (7.40 Gowran Park)
This contest looks between the two at the top of the market – Davids Charm and Days Without End – as the form of their opponents don't stack up to much. I really quite fancy the latter named, Dermot Weld's still relatively unexposed five-year-old. He won a bumper on his only start last year, before finishing placed in three maidens over a variety of trips in testing conditions this spring. Disappointing on his return when the ground didn't suit, he was only narrowly denied when third at Galway in what was a highly-competitive field. This represents a much easier opportunity and I think he should be near the 11-10 mark.
EYECATCHER
Champs Des Reves(3.10 Lingfield)
Marcus Tregoning's colt really caught me eye when a fast-finishing fifth over a mile at this track two starts back, and I thought he was an absolute certainty on handicap debut at Salisbury last time out. However, he wasn't given the best ride and didn't have the tactical speed to make inroads on the two protagonists late on. Left on the same mark and now back on the all-weather, Champs Des Reves must have a huge chance of getting off the mark, especially with the fitting of a first-time visor likely to help his concentration.
