Herecomestheboom(5.50 Ludlow)

This is an above-average bumper and it won't be easy for Herecomestheboom to give away a 4lb penalty to some useful rivals, but he boasts some strong form and will appreciate the step down in class. He contested a Listed contest when last seen and only finished 12th of 14, but wasn't in the best place throughout that race and had to come extremely wide off the final bend. Regardless, he wasn't good enough on the day and will have to put in an improved effort to land this. However, his victory at Cheltenham in October is by far the best piece of form in this race and, if he gets back to anywhere near that standard, he'll win.

EYECATCHER

Newstead Abbey(2.10 Wolverhampton)

Michael Herrington's eight-year-old isn't the easiest to win with as he doesn't find a great deal off the bridle, but he's a strong traveller and indicated he was ready to record his eighth career success when finishing second over this course and distance last time out. He was hammered in the betting prior to the claimer but, despite running well, he couldn't real back the prolific Captain Lars, who has scored again since. Back into handicap company today, he should get a faster pace to run at and from a nice draw in stall four, he'll go close.

DARK HORSE

Templemary Boy(4.25 Wolverhampton)

Division two of the 1m1½f handicap is a pretty poor affair and it could be worth following the Irish-trained Templemary Boy, who makes just his eighth career start. He's a bit in-and-out but the form of his fourth at Hamilton in July – his only previous trip to Britain – reads well with two of the three finishing in front of him scoring next time out. He races off a mark of 46 today and should improve for the extra furlong.
