The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Thursday
BANKER
Wax And Wane(2.00 Ayr)
This looks to revolve around the three previous scorers and Wax And Wane can come out on top and follow up his recent Carlisle success. That victory came over this trip on heavy ground and with conditions likely to be similar here, he should take a lot of beating. On ratings Soldier's Minute looks a relative shoe-in, but Wax And Wane is almost certainly still improving and the way he quickened up when asked last time out was quite impressive.
EYECATCHER
Valley Of Light (7.45 Chelmsford)
Well-supported 5-6 favourite on debut and finished a disappointing third of 12, beaten ten lengths. However that doesn't tell the whole story as the daughter of Dubawi broke slowly, was keen early and raced without cover for much of the journey. Oisin Murphy, who maintains the ride, came extremely wide on Charlie Appleby's juvenile round the final bend and was never in a position to challenge. With that experience under her belt, she should be able to reverse the form with Pretty Passe (who beat her by four lengths that day) and get off the mark at the second attempt.
DARK HORSE
Golden Jeffrey (4.40 Ayr)
Mixboy will be fancied by many and I wouldn't put you off him aside from his likely starting price. I'd imagine Joe Fanning will make his intentions clear from the outset and will hope to grind his rivals into submission. However, Golden Jeffrey could be the joker in the pack and coming here on the back of two hurdles victories, he's clearly in fine fettle. Dropped 1lb since his last exploit on the Flat, when fourth over course and distance, he's capable of scoring off this mark and looks a nice bet at around 4-1.
