The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Thursday
BANKER
Coronet (2.55 York)
John Gosden looked to have a good chance of winning this Group 2 Middleton Stakes last year with The Black Princess but she got chinned on the line by outsider of four, Blond Me. A year on and Gosden can go one better with Coronet, who looks the clear pick on form on her seasonal reappearance. The four-year-old daughter of Dubawi had a great season last year, winning the Ribblesdale by a neck (beating the reopposing Mori) as well as not finishing outside the top five in her other six starts, all of which came in Group 1 company. The drop to Group 2 level will help her given she's unlikely to be 100 per cent fit following her break and she's clearly the best of these.
GOOD THING
Mooroverthebridge(6.00 Salisbury)
This 5f apprentice handicap looks a match between recent scorers Porto Ferro and Mooroverthebridge and my preference is for the latter, who won with plenty in hand when last seen at Bath. Grace Harris' filly ran a cracking race on her reappearance in April when fourth of 16 at 50-1 and duly got off the mark at the sixth time of asking ten days ago. She travelled like a horse much better than her mark of 55 that day and, although a drop back to the minimum might not be ideal and that she's 2lb wrong in the weights under a penalty, she can continue her progression here.
EYECATCHER
Exhort (8.35 Newmarket)
Richard Fahey's three-year-old filly made an exciting start to her career last July when coming within a neck of subsequent Group 1 Fillies' Mile winner Laurens at Doncaster. Unsurprisingly, given the strength of that form, she went on to score on her next two starts at Thirsk and Haydock before looking unlucky when sixth at this course to end her campaign. That came off a 1lb higher mark than this and she looked as though she would've gone a lot closer given a clear run. Having put in a good performance on her reappearance at Beverley last month, Exhort should be in prime condition to record her third career victory under Paul Hanagan over this slightly longer trip.
