BANKER

Picture Painter (2.05 Kelso)

Keith Dalgleish does extremely well with his new recruits and he runs this ex-Jim Goldie-trained four-year-old in the second division of the 2m handicap hurdle. Granted he has a record of 0-20, which doesn't inspire much confidence, but his career best effort came over hurdles when finishing second over 2m4f at Perth in May this year and that performance would see him beat his rivals.

EYECATCHER

Simply Ned (4.20 Kelso)

The race-fit Wisty is likely to go off favourite but this track may not suit him as well as the sharp Cartmel and he could be worth taking on with Simply Ned. He goes extremely well fresh, as proven by winning this race in 2014 and 2015, and despite his years slowly catching up with him, he put in some fine efforts last year including when nine lengths second to Fox Norton in the Shloer Chase and he is the class horse of this field.

IRISH ANGLE

Magic Bear (3.05 Navan)

A very competitive Listed contest and it may pay to follow Eddie Lynam's likely outsider Magic Bear. The trainer has won this contest three times in the last four years and despite disappointing efforts the last twice, Magic Bear is still an improving filly and receives a 5lb allowance. She was extremely impressive in winning handicaps at Navan and Tipperary earlier this year and looks a nice each-way bet.
