The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Saturday

Hey Gaman brings strong form credentials into Newbury's Listed Denford Stakes

BIG-RACE BANKER

Hey Gaman(3.10 Newbury)

The Greenham Stakes has been won by some superstars in recent years including Frankel (2011) and Kingman (2014), and Khalid Abdullah may have another to fit the bill in likely short-price favourite Expert Eye. However, as taking as his Vintage Stakes victory was, he comes into this race with doubts following his last-place finish in the Dewhurst at the end of last year and I'm willing to take him on with Hey Gaman. James Tate's colt is a battle-hardened performer and boasts course-and-distance form when winning a Listed contest last year. He'll be ready to go first time out, will no doubt improve from two to three and should make a bold bid.

GOOD THING

Air Ministry(9.00 Wolverhampton)

It will be a long wait for most punters, but Air Ministry is almost certainly worth a bet in the last of 53 domestic races on Saturday. The four-year-old, who is winless in nine career starts, ran with plenty of promise on his first start for Ivan Furtado when a close second over this course and distance a week ago. He missed the break and had to race wide throughout, but almost made up a huge deficit on the leader close to home as he stayed on powerfully under PJ McDonald. He was raised 2lb for that effort but the trainer has booked 5lb claimer Gabriele Malune, allowing him to race off a lower mark. This isn't a tough race for the grade.

EYECATCHER

Tuff Rock(4.15 Thirsk)

Trainer Ed Walker has had two winners from just six runners at Thirsk in his career and his sole runner on the card is Tuff Rock, who makes the long trip up from Lambourn to contest this 1m4f handicap. The four-year-old cost $350,000 at the Keeneland sales in 2015 and, although he hasn't hit the heights his pricetag suggests, he has improved markedly since he was gelded last year and made a promising return to action at the end of last month. He stayed on well throughout the final furlong, doing his best work at the finish, and looked as if he was screaming for a tougher test. He's got that here and will take a lot of beating.
