The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Friday

BANKER

Beleaguerment(7.15 Kempton)

Son of Kodiac who was winless in seven starts for former trainer David Lanigan, but was well supported on numerous occasions and showed plenty of ability. Bought at the Horses-In-Training sale at the end of October and gelded soon after, Beleaguerment made his first start for Archie Watson over this course and distance nine days ago and looked to have no chance entering the straight when given plenty to do and navigating the unfavoured inside route. However, he picked up in really eyecatching style and managed to run down a hat-trick-seeking rival. He's 2lb well-in now competing under a penalty and should follow up. Bet of the week.

EYECATCHER

Tamerlane (8.45 Kempton)

This three-year-old has obviously taken time to come to himself as he didn't make the track until September this year and was already gelded, but he showed some ability in maiden and novice events over sprint trips before stepping up to 7f here last time out. He was well punted before the off and duly landed the gamble in first-time blinkers, drawing three lengths clear of his rivals. He was given a great ride by Adam Kirby that day but had a lot in hand off his basement mark and looks to have a huge chance of backing up.

DARK HORSE

(12.10 Cheltenham)

This is a pretty decent novice hurdle but I'm out to get likely favourite Elixir De Nutz, who carries a massive penalty, and Jarveys Plate, highly regarded by trainer Fergal O'Brien, is the obvious alternative at the prices. The five-year-old looked useful when beating a 108-rated rival on his sole bumper start last year, but failed to justify strong market support on hurdling debut last time out. He didn't jump great and was probably positioned too far back in the field, but he ran on encouragingly at the end that suggests the extra furlong will suit. He looks the value bet.
