The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Friday
BANKER
Diagnostic(2.30 Lingfield)
Looked a rapid improver last year when winning three races at Chelmsford in the space of a month and was duly given a two-month break on the back of her third romp. She looked a tad rusty when finishing third to the reopposing Summer Icon on her return to the track – she travelled like the best horse in the race before failing to pick up in the same fashion she had on her previous starts. Too keen last time out in a good race but should appreciate the step back up to seven furlongs and has a nice draw.
EYECATCHER
Rude Awakening(4.55 Newcastle)
Returned from a long break to run out a ready winner over a mile at this course ten days ago, picking up well and clearing away from his six rivals to win by a cosy two lengths. The step up in trip is more than likely to suit and Sir Mark Prescott's three-year-olds are often worth following when hitting form. This race is harder and topweight Casey Jones looks a big threat, but Rude Awakening is 1lb well in off a mark of 75 and should follow up.
GOOD THING
Victory Bond (4.40 Lingfield)
William Haggas' five-year-old was just below Group class last year on the turf and seems to have relished the switch to the all-weather this winter, where has a record of two wins and two seconds from four starts. He absolutely bolted up in at Wolverhampton at the start of January, beating Battalion by four lengths, before finding one too good in a Winter Derby Trial last time out. He looked the best horse that day but did plenty wrong (including go three-wide off the last bend) and can make amends today.
