EACH-WAY PLAY

Whiskey Sour (Randox Health County Hurdle, 2.30 Cheltenham)

Willie Mullins and owner Luke McMahon landed the Coral Cup on Wednesday with the unfancied Bleu Berry and they can secure a handicap double with the unexposed Whiskey Sour. The five-year-old was useful on the Flat and has won two of three career starts over hurdles, including when a fortunate victor in the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Novices' Hurdle at Leopardstown when the front two – Sharjah and Reel Steel – fell at the last. The hold-up performer was last seen finishing fourth in Grade 1 company behind Samcro and his mark of 141 could prove lenient.

BIG-RACE BANKER

Our Duke(Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup, 3.30 Cheltenham)

With ground doubts about Might Bite, I've switched allegiance to Jessica Harrington's Our Duke, who bids to follow in the footsteps of last year's winner and stable companion Sizing John. The eight-year-old has won half of his 12 career starts, including hacking up by 14 lengths in the Irish Grand National last year and beating Presenting Percy over an inadequate 2m4f in the Red Mills Chase when last seen. His jumping is the main question mark, but he definitely has the ability to win this race and the conditions won't prove a problem.

EYECATCHER

Flawless Escape(Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle, 4.50 Cheltenham)

Put up by Gordon Elliott as his dark horse for the meeting, Flawless Escape, who is seriously unexposed with just four starts to his name, looks to have a great chance of going close for the in-form Irish trainer in the penultimate race of the festival. Unlucky second on his first start over hurdles when making a bad mistake two out, he made amends to win a competitive Punchestown affair after Christmas before going close on his first race over 3m when last seen. He was behind Total Recall that day and there's nothing in the line-up of his class.
