BANKER

Elwazir (2.55 Newmarket)

Anyone who follows me on Twitter will know that I love this two-year-old son of Frankel and he impressed virtually every onlooker when finishing second in a useful maiden at Newmarket last month. The chestnut colt showed signs of greenness but stayed on pluckily to finish second under hands and heels behind a useful performer in Thrave. He probably wouldn't have to run up to that standard to win here, but improvement is expected and he'll be a Stakes performer next season.

GOOD THING

Left Alone (1.45 Newmarket)

Runners with experience are likely to come to the fore here and the Hugo Palmer-trained Left Alone should get off the mark at the third time of asking, denying the more exposed La Diva. Highly encouraging when third on debut at Yarmouth, the two-year-old filly went one better at Kempton but should've really won as she met trouble at a crucial point in the race. The extra furlong will suit and she boasts an exciting turn of foot.

DARK HORSE

Guzman(2.20 Newmarket)

The hardest race on the card by a mile but Guzman looks a good bet to run into the places at the very least with the step up to seven furlongs working in his favour. He boasts strong early season form and hasn't been disgraced in four runs since being gelded, only one of which came over this longer trip. He finished fourth on that occasion off a 5lb higher mark and showed that he was ready to score for the third time in eight starts when running creditably at York last time out.
