The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow at Newmarket
BANKER
Symbolization(3.35 Newmarket)
One of the horses I've been looking forward to the most since last season, Symbolization ran well when second to subsequent Solario Stakes fifth Vintager on debut at the July course here before hacking up at skinny odds at Kempton when last seen. The son of Cape Cross is clearly highly regarded and the form of that Kempton success is working out extremely well. The runner-up, Glendevon, bolted in by five lengths on his next start and remains an exciting horse to follow, while the third, fourth and fifth also scored on their next start. Chief market rival Purser has the advantage of a run this year, which will make it hard for Symbolization, but his class should out.
EYECATCHER
Ynys Mon(3.00 Newmarket)
Charlie Hills has started the season in fine form with four winners from six runners in the last two weeks and Ynys Mon, who was well supported when finishing fourth on debut, can enhance that record. The son of Olympic Glory showed his greenness from the stalls that day and although he was eventually beaten seven lengths, he quickened up nicely from off the pace to look like he may challenge the leaders. The first three home were in the vanguard from the off and the winner, Izzer, had racecourse experience on his side. He showed he handled testing ground, although he's likely to be better on good ground, and could prove too good for his rivals today.
DARK HORSE
Mjjack (5.20 Newmarket)
This is a competitive contest and you could fancy any number of the runners. However, four-year-old Mjjack, who loves give in the ground, looks likely to go close for trainer Karl Burke. Relatively unexposed and one of the youngest runners in the field, Mjjack was a real improver last season – rising 20lb in the ratings in the process – and looks to have further improvement in him on this kind of surface. He ran well to finish fifth over an inadequate six furlongs on his seasonal reappearance and he's now just 1lb higher than when second in a heritage handicap at Ascot in September.
