The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow
BANKER
Casemates Square (2.40 Bath)
Rated just 46, Ian Williams' three-year-old doesn't scream guaranteed winner on paper but the improvement shown on his first start in a handicap last time out when third of ten behind the improving Sir Mark Prescott-trained colt Wolfcatcherjack put him straight into my notebook. Carrying just 8st 2lb that day, he made eyecatching progress through the field before staying on strongly to the line behind two useful horses for the grade. His opposition is easier here and he should be a reasonable price.
DARK HORSE
Sentinel(3.20 Chelmsford)
By far the least exposed runner in the field, the Charlie Fellowes-trained Sentinel comes here on the back of a very encouraging run on his handicap debut in January where he made a complete mess of the start before sticking on strongly to finish a close second. Slightly worrying that he hasn't been seen on a racecourse since, but if he can build on that effort he looks sure to go close. The market may indicative of his chances so it's wise to check his price before the off.
EYECATCHER
Kind Act (1.20 Chelmsford)
Showed he had a lot of ability when a beaten favourite at Newmarket 13 days ago and should appreciate the move to the all-weather. Charlie Appleby's colt was never asked a serious question by James Doyle on debut – the whip was never used – and it's a pointer in itself that he was sent off favourite in what looked a very good field. Being by American sire Distorted Humour and out of an A P Indy mare, he'll relish his first start on the synthetic surface and it will be disappointing if he didn't go close.
