The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with one to follow on Friday
EYECATCHER
Maquisard (12.50 Sandown)
I was strong on Chris Gordon's Maquisard when he lined up in a Class 2 handicap at Cheltenham at the end of last month, but unfortunately he came down at the fifth and was never able to play his hand. Despite carrying 12st today, he should relish the step down in class, while all of his best form in Britain has come right-handed so the track should suit. Briac, winner of this race last year and on a hat-trick after easy successes the last twice, is the obvious danger, but his recent hike up the weights could be his undoing and he will certainly make the price of Maquisard more attractive.
