The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with four to follow on Boxing Day

Whisper will face Might Bite again in the King George
Might Bite: should win the King GeorgeCredit: Alan Crowhurst

BIG-RACE BANKER

Might Bite(3.05 Kempton)

Might Bite wins, surely? There has been any number of opinions about who will take this fantastic running of the King George, but there can only be one winner in my eyes. Thistlecrack didn't look the horse of old at Newbury, Fox Norton isn't a three-miler and Bristol De Mai arguably needs softer conditions – paving the way for Nicky Henderson's Might Bite. He's an absolute magnificent eight-year-old and, if he had not fallen at this meeting last year when a country mile clear in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase, he'd have won his last six. Everything looks likely to go to plan and the anticipated price of 11-8 is fair.

GOOD THING

Star Tackle(2.05 Sedgefield)

I've tipped this horse on both starts this season and he's yet to come up trumps but hopefully it'll be third-time lucky. Trainer Harry Whittington described this six-year-old as a Cheltenham horse at the start of the season but he hasn't quite lived up to expectation as of yet. Sent up to Sedgefield to finally get that win next to his name this season, Star Tackle looks the class act of this field and the drop in trip will help his chances.

EYECATCHER

Ballyoptic(1.55 Kempton)

This gutsy seven-year-old has won twice from three starts under jockey Sam Twiston-Davies, who takes over from Richard Johnson today. After an easy victory in an Exeter novice chase in November – beat subsequent Grade 2 winner Elegant Escape by 13 lengths – he could finish only second of three at Cheltenham. However, he made a fair few mistakes on that occasion, including one when rallying up the straight, and the ground was far from ideal. Given a break, he can land this Grade 1 prize. Mia's Storm is a tenuous favourite.

IRISH ANGLE

(2.55 Leopardstown)

Robert Tyner's talented hurdler has quickly adapted to tackling fences and won on just his second start in the sphere when beating seven rivals at Fairyhouse over 2m in November. Backed before the off, he travelled extremely well behind horses before cruising through the field and winning eased down by just under three lengths with the first two clear. The runner-up has since won a handicap after a miracle recovery from Jack Kennedy and Blast Of Koeman should follow up.
