The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Wednesday afternoon

GOOD THING

(1.55 Haydock)

Unexposed five-year-old who was unlucky not to win a race over hurdles in four attempts (finished second three times) but righted that wrong with a decisive 11-length score on chase debut at Aintree 25 days ago. He was given an enterprising ride that day having been sent clear by rider Nico de Boinville from an early stage and never seeing a rival. Similar tactics might be harder in this four-runner affair given Dashel Drasher is in opposition, but he could prove to be a cut above.

EYECATCHER

(3.30 Haydock)

Alan King's inmate is the youngest in the field for this 2m3f handicap hurdle and is open to plenty of improvement after just five starts over hurdles. He has bumped into some useful opponents in every run to date, including Song For Someone and Nickolson, before finishing ten lengths adrift of the useful Totterdown at Sandown when last seen. The ground was bottomless that day and he gave the aforementioned winner too much rope, but he stayed on takingly to finish a clear-cut second from off the pace despite making mistakes. The step up in trip could be what he needs.
