Running off a mark of 76 and therefore 3lb well-in at the weights, David O'Meara's Returnofthemac is of serious interest off topweight in this three-year-old mile handicap. He ran with promise on his first two outings in novice company earlier this year, doing plenty wrong in the process, but looked far more professional when able to bowl along out in front at Pontefract ten days ago. He dominated that race and won with plenty in hand, so is expected to follow up in similar fashion despite the penalty.

The highest rated maiden in the country (mark of 106) before the start of the turf Flat season this year, Roger Varian's three-year-old filly proved herself capable of going close in black type races last year when second in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes and fourth in the Group 3 Prestige Stakes, and duly relished the drop down to novice company when getting off the mark on her reappearance at Newbury. Runner-up African Dream failed to supplement the form at Royal Ascot but returned lame, so she had excuses, and Stylistique is expected to go close on her return to Listed level. The drier the ground the better chance she has.
