The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Thursday afternoon

BANKER

(1.15 Newmarket)

A 1,350,000gns purchase, Maydanny is one of the most regally-bred horses in training and has made a promising start to his career. Mark Johnston's runner bolted up on his debut in handicap company at the start of June off a mark of 80 and I strongly fancied him for the Silver Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot, but unfortunately he was drawn on the wrong side of the track. He still finished a valiant seventh that day, winning his group, and is surely a winner waiting to happen off this mark.

GOOD THING

Qaader (3.00 Newmarket)

Another Mark Johnston-trained unexposed runner that is owned by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, Qaader made an extremely promising debut when bolting up at Newbury and was well found in the market for the Coventry just eight days later. He was unlucky to bump into a good one that day and may well have actually taken the prize if he was granted a clear run. Qaader was forced to check and switch at a crucial point and compensation awaits here.

DARK HORSE

Pass The Vino (12.45 Newmarket)

Paul D'Arcy's runner doesn't catch the eye on form figures, but this four-year-old is clearly pretty speed and may have peaked early in his campaign last year. He won a 20-runner handicap off a mark of 85 on his reappearance last June, before adding a couple of runner-up efforts off 90 and 95 on his next two outings. He failed to make any impression after that but returned with a good third on the Rowley Mile last month despite a slow start and could be chucked in.
