The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Saturday afternoon
DARK HORSE
A high draw is usually important in this race but I don't mind stall nine for Fresh, who posted two career-best performances over 6f at this track earlier in the year. The James Fanshawe-trained sprinter was only just touched off by the talented Rohaan on the second of those efforts and certainly wasn't disgraced when he finished eighth of 24 in the Stewards' Cup last time out. A mark of 98 remains fair (peak RPR of 105), the return to Ascot helps his cause and any give in the ground will suit.
EACH-WAY PLAY
Snow Lantern and Mother Earth rightly head the betting for this year's Sun Chariot given the company they've been keeping and their consistency. However, both have had hard campaigns and I'd rather look for a big-priced rival. Champers Elysees, who was sent off favourite and finished fourth after a luckless passage in this race 12 months ago, is the best alternative. The Johnny Murtagh-trained filly bounced back to form at the Curragh two runs back after a couple of quiet runs and again found space at a premium last time in the Matron. There's no way she should be 20-1 in this field.
