War Sound(2.05 Aintree)

Philip Hobbs is in red-hot form at the moment with eight winners from 26 runners (31 per cent strike-rate) over the last fortnight and he has another great chance with War Sound at Aintree. Winner of this race last year, War Sound seems to save his best efforts for the Merseyside track and is just 2lb higher than when sauntering home 12 months ago by an easy six lengths. This is undoubtedly harder than last year, however, and he didn't exactly catch the eye when pulling up on his last start, but War Sound goes very well fresh and has probably been targeted at this race.

EACH-WAY PLAY

Midnightreferendum (1.50 Wincanton)

There are a number of smart mares in this race and not much separates those at the top of the market, hence the each-way play header, but Midnightreferendum should be bang there if running to her best form and might be worth chancing at around 8-1. Alan King's charge runs extremely well fresh and has notched all three career victories on the back of 59-day breaks or longer and should be primed for a huge run. This is her second start since undergoing a wind op, which looked to make a difference when scythed through the pack to win at Warwick last time out. She remains an improving hurdler and gets in off a nice weight.
