The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Saturday afternoon

BANKER

Miss O Connor (2.30 Haydock)

William Haggas has targeted this Listed prize with useful types in recent seasons and has been rewarded with two winners from the last five years. He looks to have a huge chance of enhancing that statistic with likely market leader Miss O Connor, who backed up a debut success for Jimmy Feane in a Gowran Park maiden with a supremely impressive victory on her first start for the yard at Nottingham nine days ago. It wasn't a great race but she fairly galloped 11 rivals into the dirt that day, winning by an ever-increasing 11 lengths at the line, suggesting she would be well up to winning at this sort of level. She has a bit to find at the weights, but she has only had two runs and could be absolutely anything in what is a fairly weak division.

EYECATCHER

(3.55 Chelmsford)

Anyone that follows The Punt regularly will know that I have followed Island Of Life off a cliff in recent seasons. Some will say I should have given up on her a while ago (I did for a short period of time), but it's time to regain the faith in Haggas's five-year-old mare with plenty of factors in her favour this afternoon. Island Of Life has been rather disappointing on turf over the last two years, but has been campaigned at Group 3 and Listed level recently and has been far from disgraced. However, she is much better on the all-weather (3-9 compared to 1-11 on turf) and the return to a synthetic surface at Chelmsford is just what she needs. She is the classiest mare in this 0-105 handicap and represents huge value at her opening price of 15-2. I make her the best each-way bet of the day by some margin, especially given Haggas has booked Cieren Fallon, who can claim an extra 5lb off her back.

GOOD THING

Via Serendipity (2.50 Ascot)

Betting on races in the Shergar Cup isn't the best money-making strategy, but it's hard to swerve Stuart Williams's Via Serendipity, who bids to back up his success in the mile contest from 12 months ago. Ridden by Hayley Turner last year, Via Serendipity won well under a power-packed ride and is able to compete off the same mark this time around. This looks to have been one of his main targets this year and the fact Tadhg O'Shea is on board (ridden six winners at this track) is a plus.
