The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Saturday afternoon
EACH-WAY PLAY
I have fancied Chindit for the 2021 Qipco 2,000 Guineas since his Champagne Stakes victory at Doncaster last September and with the lack of a standout performer in this year's edition, it's not hard to remain confident about his chances of hitting the frame. Chindit ended his juvenile campaign with a disappointing effort at the Dewhurst at this track, but I'm putting that down to the soft ground and not the track. His reappearance victory in the Greenham was impressive – he hit the line well and is value for more than the winning margin suggests – and he doesn't have too much to find on official figures. Anything bigger than 10-1 is value.
GOOD THING
Bell Rock (1.50 Newmarket)
Trainer Andrew Balding has found the perfect opportunity for Bell Rock to return with a bang. The five-year-old son of Kingman has form figures of 161 on his seasonal reappearances and 113 on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket – put those two factors together and you've got a horse ready to go close. His latest third at this track came in the 27-runner Cambridgeshire, where he stayed on powerfully after a troubled passage off a mark of 103. He's been dropped 2lb in the handicap since and rider William Carver takes another 5lb off his back. Everything is in place for Bell Rock to win.
EYECATCHER
Three runner-up finishes from three starts isn't desirable for a good punting prospect, but Magical Land has been crying out for this step up to a mile and his defeats haven't been for a lack of trying. His second start as a juvenile (second to subsequent Group 2-placed Youth Spirit) was a performance that oozed promise and he raced against the bias on his return at this track. Magical Land only got going late on and could be much better than a mark of 87 over this trip and further.
