Andrew Balding's team is in sparkling form and following the success of Kameko in the 2,000 Guineas on Saturday, he can add another winner to the tally thanks to Barossa Red. This four-year-old took eight starts to get off the mark, but he won well at Haydock off a mark of 76 in August and he almost followed up off 6lb higher when last seen at that same track the following month. A strong traveller and stayer over a mile, Barossa Red should relish this step up in trip to 1m2f and looks like he could be well ahead of the handicapper.

EYECATCHER

Lord Of The Alps (4.25 Haydock)

I tipped this colt four times last year without success, but he just keeps catching the eye and I'm going to give him one final chance on his return from a long layoff. He has plenty of speed and I'm convinced he's chucked in off his mark of 75, but he just wasn't putting it all in at the finish last year and a gelding operation over the winter may have done him the world of good. He is bred to appreciate this 1m2f trip and he will be of even more interest if the market speaks in his favour.
