The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Saturday afternoon

GOOD THING

(1.20 Haydock)

Some good horses have won this race – Sir Ron Priestley (2019), Red Verdon (2016) and Brown Panther (2011) stand out – and Oman could be the latest to add his name to the esteemed roll of honour. The Ralph Beckett-trained three-year-old showed promise on a number of occasions without breaking through, but readily got off the mark on his first start following a layoff and gelding operation when making all over 1m4f at Salisbury earlier last month. He seemed to relish every yard of the trip that day and with proven form on soft ground to his name, it's hard to envisage him being beaten.

EYECATCHER

Tomfre (2.05 York)

A prolific seven-time winner from 18 starts, Tomfre is best caught when the weather turns miserable as proven by four victories on ground described as soft or heavy. He ended his three-year-old campaign with three impressive strikes and returned in similar form when a narrow second to the race-fit Qaysar. Tomfre was a bit too fresh for his own good that day and with the fizz now taken out of him, he can return to winning ways.
