The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on day three at Royal Ascot
BANKER
Finest Sound (4.10 Royal Ascot)
It takes a Group horse to win the Britannia Handicap but it is usually harder to pinpoint the top-class performer than in this year's edition. Simon and Ed Crisford's Finest Sound has already proved himself worthy of a step up to Group company given the ease of his success at Haydock ten days ago and is surely well ahead of his handicap mark of 87. Wind surgery and a first-time tongue-tie seemed to bring about a huge jolt of improvement that day and this will have been the target. He is 7lb well-in under a penalty and reminds me of Ostilio, who won this race for the same connections in 2018. A high draw and the recent rain further boosts his chance of winning.
EYECATCHER
Global Storm (1.15 Royal Ascot)
Charlie Appleby's gelding showed some ability when placed behind some smart sorts on his first three outings on the all-weather without ever troubling the judge. A gelding operation seemed to be the making of him, though, as he has two-from-two since. He made an eyecatching mid-race move in a competitive three-year-old handicap at Newmarket on his return, before displaying fantastic guts and determination to hold off a strong challenge in the final 50 yards. He's well-in under a penalty and could prove too strong for Acquitted, who may not stay the 1m2f trip.
EACH-WAY PLAY
Lord Of The Lodge(2.25 Royal Ascot)
Karl Burke's son of Dandy Man is likely to make the running in this year's Jersey Stakes and although he steps up in trip to 7f, the way he finished off his race at Newcastle last time suggested that he should stay the extra distance. He improved plenty for being allowed to bowl along last year, winning a Haydock novice by five lengths before finishing a good second to Threat in the Gimcrack. This edition of the Jersey doesn't look that good and he is a good each-way bet at around 9-1.
