Bottomless ground won't be ideal for Adayar, but he sluiced through the mud to win his maiden at Nottingham last year and appears classy enough to handle conditions. This year's Derby winner has a rare mix of stamina, a high cruising speed and push-button acceleration and he left subsequent Juddmonte International winner Mishriff trailing in his wake in the King George when last seen. Coming into this race fresh, too much was made of Adayar's minor setback before his intended run in the Prix Niel and he looks the most likely winner of a mouthwatering Arc.

This year's Abbaye may be as simple as a match between the top two in the market – Suesa and Glass Slippers. Suesa, who figures to go off favourite, got the better of her aforementioned rival at Glorious Goodwood in July, but it's worth noting that Glass Slippers was returning from a 265-day break and wouldn't have been fully tuned up with an autumn campaign in mind. Glass Slippers fared best of those who raced on the speed in the Flying Five at the Curragh last time and looks to have a good chance of going one better than when second in this race last year.
