Three-time winner from ten starts, Stuart Williams's Tone The Barone was an improver in lowly company during the summer, recording wins at Windsor and Yarmouth, before struggling on his final attempt of the campaign at the former venue. He was given the autumn and early winter off to recover while undergoing a wind operation and looked a completely different proposition on his all-weather debut last week when hacking up by six lengths. He tracked a fast pace that day but cleared away from his opponents in the final furlong and won with plenty in hand. He is undoubtedly well treated under a 5lb penalty, is open to more improvement and should prove far too good.
