The Punt Daily: Robbie Wilders' horseracing tip at Navan on Sunday

EYECATCHER

Longhouse Poet (2.20 Navan)

The Boyne Hurdle has attracted a decent 14-runner field and I find myself drawn to Longhouse Poet. The Martin Brassil-trained eight-year-old was an excellent winner of the Thyestes on his last start and connections have pinpointed either the Irish or English National as his long-term target. This represents an unusual preparation for a National contender but Tiger Roll won this en route to Aintree glory in 2019 and Longhouse Poet might also be able to scoop a nice prize over hurdles on ground he relishes. Horses will need to stay strongly on this ground and the in-form runner, who has proven his stamina over further on heavy, will avoid all the penalties having only won a maiden hurdle in this sphere. The 154-rated chaser doesn’t have masses to find in receipt of weight from the majority of his rivals in this Grade 2, and I fancy him to run well at a price.
